Laura Linney, best known for playing strong, yet vulnerable characters, is one of the most celebrated American actors of today. Her father was a renowned playwright. However, she was raised as a single child by a single mom and nurse. In the summer, while with her dad, Linney developed a passion for theater. Her first stage experience was initially at Brown University then at Juilliard School. In just two short months after graduating the actress began her Broadway career. Following that, she made her debut in film and television. In the years since, she's performed in many films and TV and stage productions. There were many awards she received over the course of her career such as four Primetime Emmy Awards and two Golden Globe Awards. Though she was awarded numerous prizes through the years, performing is always her main love.
